Comfort Ituh – Acting Managing Director

MDShe is a business development professional with over a decade of working experience most of which has been spent in the banking sector. The CIBN certified Banker graduated from Abia State University in 2005 with a Degree in Marketing. She started as a marketing officer with Jesbill Technologies Limited before joining Gufax Microfinance Bank Limited as an Executive Trainee. Due to her excellent performance, she rose to become the Head of Business Development of the Bank, a position she used to help develop customer-friendly products that saw the bank excelling in customer satisfaction. She is a member Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria CIBN. She has attended several professional courses relevant to her field chief among which is Microfinance Certification Programme and Achieving Marketing Excellence for Microfinance Banks in Nigeria. She brings her wealth of experience as Managing Director of the Bank.

Samuel Okewunmi – Head Internal Control and Audit

He is the Head, Internal Control and Audit of the bank. He holds a National Diploma in Accountancy from Osun State Polytechnic and a Degree in Accounting from the prestigious University of Lagos Akoka. He began his working career as a Field Officer with Aromaks Nigeria Limited before transferring his services to United Bank for Africa Plc in 2006 as a Cluster Control Officer in-charge of audit and internal control of several branches of the Bank. In 2009, he was employed by Skye Bank Plc as Resident Control Officer. In 2013, he moved to Wema Bank Plc as Resident Control Officer. His task was to ensure review of credit files, GL accounts, ensuring strict adherence of the Bank’s policy, etc. He has attended scores of trainings such as ATM reconciliation and Management, Bank Inspection and Internal Control, Conflict Resolution and Interpersonal Relationships, etc. He is Associate Accounting Technician (AAT, ICAN) and Member Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.

Samuel Udoh – Head of Operations

He is a Chartered Banker with many years of experience in the banking sector. He has a Diploma in Business Administration, and a Degree in Accounting. He began his career as a Nursery School Teacher and later Lecturer and Head of Department of Business Administration- Lagos Aviation and Maritime Business School, Calabar Study Centre.

He has worked as Ware House Manager Sundubros Investment Limited Calabar and later as the Assistant Manager and Branch Manager. He later resumed at Tetralink Investment Ltd as the Accountant and later as the company manager. He joined Dazell B. Company limited, an Oil and Gas Firm as Internal Auditor and later Director of Finance. He has worked with Bakassi Microfinance Bank Limited Calabar as Internal Auditor and later Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer. He also worked with Amaecom Global Ltd as Internal Auditor and single-handedly set up the internal control system for the company. He took up employment with Idems Ultimate Ltd, a reputable Telecoms Partner in 2012 as Internal Auditor. In 2013, he was appointed Manager of Idems First Network Ltd Calabar, a Subsidiary of Idems Ultimate Ltd. He has attended a Central Bank of Nigeria sponsored courses at Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria CIBN and is a full member of the institute. He has attended several courses and Seminars relevant to his career.

Mkpoikana Essien – Head of Sales

She is a seasoned Microfinance Banker whose contributions have added marketing value to her employers. Before joining Stanford Bank, she has worked as Flight Announcer and Duty Officer for Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, Katsina State, Relationship Officer/Head of Strategic Business, a task that cuts across loan creation and collection, deposit mobilization and relationship management. In 2011, she joined Palm Coast MF Bank as Relationship Officer. Due to her sterling performance and dedication to duty, she was promoted to the post of Head of Marketing and later Assistant Manager in 2014. This new assignment saw her taking charge of the overall supervision of loan disbursement, loan analysis among other functions. She is adjudged one of the very best Microfinance marketers in Akwa Ibom State.

She is a Genetics and Biotechnology graduate of University of Calabar. She also has Post Graduate Diploma in Education. She has attended several courses relevant to her profession including Microfinance Certification Programme organized by Central Bank of Nigeria.

Jumbo Victor – Financial Controller

Mr. Jumbo Victor brings on stream over 13 years of working experience to Stanford Microfinance Bank Ltd. He has a National Diploma in Financial Studies and Second Class Upper Degree in Accounting from the University of Uyo.

He had a brief stint attachment with Peacock Paints Ltd where he did his industrial attachment; Secondary School Teacher during his mandatory NYSC programme in Ondo State before transferring his services to Mutual Alliance Savings and Loans Ltd in 2009. While at Mutual Alliance, he was Financial Control Officer, and later rose to the position of Head, Financial Control (FINCON). He was in charge of preparing management accounts and profitability analysis, monthly Central Bank of Nigeria CBN and Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation NDIC, Maintaining Bank Asset Register, Preparation of performance analysis report, etc. He is currently working to obtain his ICAN and CITN membership as well as working towards obtaining a Post Graduate Diploma in Education.

Akwaowo Joseph – Head, Information Technology

Mr. Akwaowo Joseph, a self-motivated and an enthusiastic team member has a rich working background spanning over 15 years. He is a Second Class Upper Division Graduate of Federal University of Technology Owerri in Polymer and Textile Engineering. He also has an MSc in Business Information Technology from the reputable Middlesex University, London United Kingdom.

He worked with the defunct Manny Bank Plc as a Credit Officer; Filing Plus Group Plc United Kingdom as Site Supervisor. Upon returning to Nigeria in 2009, Akwaowo joined Prospect MF Bank as Head Information Technology. He later became the Head Operations of the same bank. In 2013, he joined Active Point MF Bank Ltd as Head Information Technology. His major feats as an IT specialist includes ensuring the automation of Prospects MF Bank credit management process from manual process; developed scripts for generating systems reports for loan recovery management. He has also successfully deployed an accounting software package to facilitate book keeping for Edkel Nigeria Ltd. He is a Member British Computer Society and Chartered Institute of Bankers, etc.

Mathew Aniekan Nelson – Head of Credit

He comes on board as Head of Credit Unit of the Bank with over 13 years cognate banking experience. He began his banking career with Union Bank Plc in 1988 as a Funds Transfer Officer. He later joined Koguna Babura Insurance Brokers where he spent 11 years. In 2008, he moved to Sterling Bank Plc as a Credit Officer. While with Sterling Bank, he was in charge of Credit risk Management/Analysis, documentation, Monitoring and control, Debt Recovery, Collateral Monitoring and Inspection, Internal Control/Audit and Operations, etc. in 2013, he joined Edsen Microfinance Bank Limited and later Gufax Microfinance Bank Ltd. He holds a B.Sc in Accounting from the University of Maiduguri and an MBA from University of Nigeria Nsukka. He is Member to notable professional bodies and has attended several courses and workshops.

Chinonso Nweke – Head, Admin/Legal Unit

Mr. Nweke Chinonso is a Lawyer by profession with vast exposure in Legal Drafting, Debt Recovery, Credit Transactions, Company Secretarial Duties, Duties, Labour and Employment, Receivership and Insolvency Practices.  He has Degree in Law from Enugu State University of Science and Technology and is currently pursuing Masters Degree in Law from the same institution.

After his one year mandatory Youth Service with Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly as a Legal Officer and Research Personnel, Chinonso began his career with Aristides Partners in 2013. His responsibilities included conducting Legal Research, drafting contractual agreement and preparing court processes. In 2014, he transferred his services to Francis Oniekoro & Co. He has been an adhoc staff and Representative of Globacom Nigeria. He brings to bare his high sense of accountability, good negotiation skills and a flexible team player on his new position as the Head Admin/Legal Unit of Stanford Microfinance Bank Limited. He is a Member of Nigeria Bar Association, NBA.

Emmanuel Akpan – Head of Recovery

He is the Head of Recovery Unit of the Bank after a brief stint as Head of Credit. He has over 15 years of cognate experience in Banking covering areas such as Credit management and analysis, Customer Service, Operations, marketing and Recovery, etc. He started his banking career with Union Bank Plc in 1989 which saw him supervise branches in Uyo, Eket and Yenegoa. In 2007, he joined Shield Newspapers Ltd as General Manager and later as Administrative Manager of Gitto Construction General Nigeria Ltd in 2008. In 2009, he was General Manager of the Watchers Newspapers before joining Palm Coast Microfinance Bank Limited as Head Recovery. Workshops and Courses attended are Loans/Advances Recovery, Advanced Management Training, Bank Basic Operations, and Marketing Excellence for Microfinance Bank Ltd, etc. he is member to several professional bodies including Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management and Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria CIBN. He holds a Diploma in Law and HND in Public Relations.

Gertrude Ikokwu – Cash Officer

She comes on board as Cash Officer of the Bank with over 10 years of cognate banking experience having risen from the lower rung of banking to head operational activities of a bank. She began her working career at Federal Medical Centre Owerri Imo state in 2002 as Record Officer before transferring her services to Wema Bank Plc in 2004. At Wema Bank, she was Bulk Teller, Customer Care Team Leader and Reconciliation Officer. Given her knack for excellence and first class service, she was promoted to the position of Manager in charge of operations of the Bank Branch. In 2015, Gertrude moved to Glomo Integrated Services Abak as Operations Manager. She was in charge of all the operational activities of the Company.

A native of Ikom in Cross River State, Gertrude attended Community Secondary School Nde and Vantage International School Oyigbo Rivers State. She later proceeded to Institute of Management and Technology Enugu State where she obtained a Higher National Diploma in Computer Science.
